The Shield Savings plans by Blue Shield of California are high deductible plans that are compatible with a health savings account (HSA), and offer protection against major healthcare expenses. The Shield Savings 1800 plan features a $1,800 annual deductible, 30% coinsurance, and an out-of-pocket limit of $5,950. There is no lifetime maximum for this plan. For office visits, members are responsible for a $35 copay after the deductible is reached. For preventive services, Blue Shield covers 100% of the negotiated cost. Prescription drug coverage is provided for both generic and brand name drugs. After the deductible, members make a $10 copayment for generic medications, and a $35 copayment for brand name drugs.
