The Balance plans by Blue Shield of CA provide coverage for important medical services before the deductible is met. This includes preventive care, doctor’s office visits, generic drug coverage, and emergency room care.  The Balance 1700 plan features a $1,700 annual deductible and a $6,500 out-of-pocket maximum. Lifetime benefits for this plan are unlimited. For preventive services, Blue Shield covers 100% of the negotiated rate. For office visits, members make a fixed $30 copayment, which applies before the deductible is met. Prescription drug coverage is for both generic and brand name medications.
