DC Health Insurance Marketplace Rates
DC released its rates for the Health Insurance Marketplace which begins enrolling its residents on October 1, 2013. There are three providers selling to the individual market in DC: Aetna, CareFirst, and Kaiser.

The following are the average rates for a 40 year old residing in DC. Remember the rates below do not include the Affordable Care Act premium subsidies.

How to Choose an ACA Plan
When choosing a plan do not choose based off price only, as Covered California warns its residents that the Bronze plan significantly costs more when seeking medical treatment even though it has a lower monthly premium. What you want to look for is a good price both for premiums and cost-sharing (deductible, copay, and coinsurance), and the network of doctors and hospitals.
